Who doesn’t love going on vacation? Especially to a place like Kiawah Island! It’s your time away from your job and responsibilities to sit back and relax with family and friends. However, it’s not always relaxing getting ready to go on your vacation. You don’t know what to bring, your clothes don’t fit in your suitcase, and how are you going to safely transport more fragile items?! We’re here to give you some tips on how to pack and prep to go on your next Kiawah Island vacation.
1. Make a List
It’s something so simple, and yet so many of us still end up throwing our belongings in our bags without double-checking. Make a list of items you will need for your trip, and be specific! If you think you will need 3 pairs of jeans and 2 dress shirts, write it down. As you’re packing, check off the items that are placed in your suitcase and ready to go. For items that need to be packed the day of your departure, simply leave it unchecked on your list so you know you still need to place the item in your bag.
2. Roll Your Clothes
Rolling your clothes instead of folding them helps to save space. You can roll pants, shirts, dresses, everything! When you place your rolled items in your suitcase, you can stack them or place them across the entire bottom of your suitcase. Try this packing tip out and see how much extra space you will have!
3. Stuff Socks into Shoes
Are you running out of space for even the smallest of items? Try stuffing your socks in your shoes. It saves space and keeps your socks and shoes organized. You’ll always know where your footwear items are, because they’re in one convenient location.
4. Use Vacuum Seal Bags or Ziploc Bags
If you find yourself still needing more space in your suitcase, vacuum seal bags are the solution to your problem. They are so easy and simple to use, and can help use every bit of space in your suitcase. If you don’t have vacuum seal bags, you can make your own using 2 simple household products: a Ziploc bag and a vacuum. Pack your clothes in as many Ziploc bags as you need and suck the air out with the tube attachment on your vacuum. Ziploc bags won’t hold as many articles of clothing as the larger and name brand vacuum seal bags will, but they’re ultimately a great space saver.
5. Pack Dryer Sheets
Are you worried about your clothes not smelling fresh? Simply pack a dryer sheet at the bottom of your suitcase and it’ll make your clothes smell like they just came out of the dryer every day. If you’re going on a long trip or are packing a larger suitcase, pack an additional dryer sheet on top of your clothes as well for optimal freshness.
6. Place a Cotton Pad in Makeup
Have you ever unpacked your makeup bag only to find that your pressed powder or compact foundation has broken during your travels? Place a cotton pad in the compact and it’ll help absorb any force or hits the makeup may endure during your flight or car ride.
Now You Are Ready for Kiawah Island!
Now that you’re all packed for your next vacation, it’s time to sit back and relax on Kiawah’s pristine beaches.
